When an emergency happens, having reliable access to fuel can make all the difference. Recently, the Hart Fueling team responded to a scrapyard fire in Darby Township, Delaware County, right outside of Philadelphia. We provided emergency fueling support to the Darby Fire Department while crews worked to contain and extinguish the blaze.
With the fire actively being fought at a scrap metal recycling facility, getting a fuel truck safely into position required careful coordination. Local police officers escorted the Hart team to the scene, allowing our driver to access the facility and refuel the Darby Fire Department’s fire truck on site.
Emergency Fueling When It Matters Most
Emergency situations require a fast response, and Hart Fueling operates with a sense of urgency when customers need fuel in critical situations.
Our emergency fueling services are designed to provide reliable fuel delivery following fires, storms, power outages, natural disasters, and other emergencies. Hart maintains a fleet of different-sized delivery trucks and can accommodate deliveries of 100 gallons or more, helping us respond to a wide range of emergency fueling needs.
For this job, the priority was simple: get to the fire scene, safely access the facility, and provide the fuel needed to keep the fire truck operating.
Maneuvering Into a Challenging Job Site
Industrial facilities can present unique challenges for fuel delivery trucks. Tight spaces, equipment, vehicles, and changing conditions can make it difficult for larger fuel trucks to maneuver through a busy site.
Fortunately, Hart has the equipment to handle difficult-to-access fueling locations. Our smaller, all-wheel-drive truck upfits are designed to navigate narrow roads, uneven ground, and other challenging spaces. Their size and maneuverability make them particularly useful when a standard fuel truck may have difficulty reaching the equipment that needs to be fueled.
Our truck upfits are also equipped with 150-foot hoses, giving our drivers additional reach when they cannot park directly beside the equipment. This extra flexibility can be especially valuable at crowded or restricted job sites. At the Darby Township fire, these capabilities allowed our fuel truck to access the recycling facility and refuel the fire department’s truck without issues.
Your Emergency Fueling Partner
The successful response required coordination between everyone on site. Local police helped escort the Hart team into the facility, firefighters worked to contain the fire, and Hart’s fuel delivery driver provided the on-site refueling support needed to keep the fire truck ready for action. Thanks to the combined efforts of firefighters, police officers, and fuel delivery personnel, the fire was contained and extinguished within four hours.
Hart Fueling is proud to support emergency responders when they need fuel the most. Whether the job involves an active fire, a hard-to-reach location, or another emergency requiring immediate fuel delivery, our team is prepared to respond quickly and find a way to get the job done.
